GT40 replica with Ford GT parts

Hi all

I was just wondering if anyone has ever added any Ford GT parts to their replica, particular any interior parts such as the toggle switches, guages etc. I quite like some of the GT switch gear so I'd be interested to see what people have attempted.

Hello Trev,

I am considering doing just that. Problem is I'm trying to find out what computer I need to drive the guages and where to source one. There is an outfit here in the states that will sell the whole dash assy for about $3000.00 U.S. New from the dealer would be around $ 6 grand.

Since I'm too lazy to call the Ford dealership, can just the toggle switches be purchased?

I'm not crazy about he lucas toggle switches that come with the CAV cars (would like something a little dressy). Maybe some sore of sleeve that goes over the switch arm.

I am waiting to hear about a dash assembly myself as I thought it would might look quite good but I've got two problems. One would be getting the guages running and the second is that the assembly would be left hand drive and I am building a right hand drive car so I'd have to modify a tornado dash and accept the relevant guages and switches.

Looking at it I think the best option would be to just try and get the toggle switches and forget the guages as there isn't a guage in the GT for oil temp etc.

Trevor,
The toggle switches are much bigger than Lucas parts. Also don't forget the GT has stalk controls as well, so it needs less toggles.

If you are ever up Essex way youcould probably call Roush and ask them if they would let you have a look at theirs.

Very good point Brett, looks like sticking with the standard switch gear will be much easier

That's a good GT40 replica there. I know that good ford parts would really compensate the looks of it in order to make it a much more better look. I hope that you have already got what it takes in order to make it real look good.

I was curious as to why replicas of the late shape GT40 body had not started to hit the market yet or is nobody brave enough ????
