presentation

Hello, I am Serge from the South West of France. I have a GT40 built by Franco Sbarro. The chassis is very close to an original and the brakes, shock absorbers, dashboard etc. come from John Wyer's stock. I found this car in completely disassembled parts. I did a restoration over 5 years and I try to make it as close as possible to an original but it remains a replica. I also have an Alfa Romeo Giulia GT 2000, a Yamaha XS1100 and a Honda CBX 1000/6. I apologize for using a translator because unfortunately I do not understand English.

Costa, if this is / was the Sbarro GT40 found in outside area of Paris, I was sent to look at it to verify that it was indeed an original GT40 , which it certainly was not, and I heard no more from the then current owner. This was in 2011. Frank

Good evening Frank, you are mistaken, I showed the car to Franco Sbarro 5/6 years ago and he clearly identified it as a Sbarro. If Sbarro confirms it, I think we can believe it, but for me it doesn't matter whether it's a real GT40, a replica or a Sbarro or a fake Sbarro, I stay away from controversy. And to confirm it again, there is the red 1040 in Toulouse, which is also a Sbarro that we regularly see in historic races, and it is identical to mine. I came to see you with Jacky Morel.

Welcome Serge

I would love to see some pictures of your car

Ian
I will be happy to take some photos of the engine and interior for you tomorrow.

Costa, coincidentally the car I went to see was yellow !! This car was a Sbarro, but they wanted me to say it was a original GT40 . Frank

Ha ok there are some differences between an original and a Sbarro, you must have noticed. I still have to change the rear transmissions (very expensive) and make the seats in parachute canvas but I need the plans, after it will not be very far from the aesthetic point of view, but it is still a replica. On April 24/25/26 I am going to Castellet to see historic races I will try to see with an owner if I can take photos of details

Welcome Serge, Nice car, I hope to see you soon, I am from east side of France

Hello Jean Marc, yes with pleasure but I rarely go to the east of France, I go to the circuit but it is mainly my son who drives my GT40 he is finer and a better driver than me especially since this car is really mounted like an original no silentbloc all and direct metal so at 70 years old the circuit is for my son and I drive it only for rallies or in exhibitions when I am asked. Do you sometimes come to the southwest?? Do you also have a GT40??

Serge, I am living at less than 1 hour from Dijon race-track, and il little bit more from La Bresse race-track. I will be there for the Tour Auto.
I am finishing a RCR MK1 ( see my post there :
I go from time to time to Villeneuve sur Lot where my brother in law is leaving it seems close to your place ?

Hello, nice project this GT40 RCR, still curious to see projects like that abandoned. Where are you with the reassembly?? Do you have a solution for the registration document?? Indeed Villeneuve sur lot and about 20 minutes from my home. I don't know if we are even allowed to send a personal email here, easier for us to communicate

The car is at the paint shop since 3 months and for one mont more. I will restart post when it will be back.
I sent you a personal message with my email. I assume you can read it and answer, but you cannot send a new message because you are too recent on the forum.
