Original ZF Transaxle

I was lucky enough to score this original ZF, recently rebuilt. I don't know much about these transaxles but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me anything about it just based on these pictures? Do the casting markings mean anything? Any way to identify the year it was produced...?

Fran at RCR was kind enough to save this one for me while he continues his work on an elaborate MkII build for me.

Very interested in learning about these units, any info is appreciated...

Cheers,

There should be a tag like this on it that would help.

It looks like a Pantera -2 ZF that was flipped for your car. The top plate casting is a new cover added for use in the GT. RBT provides them. There should be a serial number stamped into the case at the rear seam on both cases (a 4 digit number). As well as the I.D. tag which you did not provide a picture of.
