Newbie introduction and steering question

Hello from ME!
I joined the group as I’m a newbie to building a car, but made the leap and purchased a Superlite GTr kit from a great guy in CA who didn’t have time.
I’m slowly getting into the car and have a question about the steering assembly and connection.
Currently the steering column upper is installed, but there rest needs to be done. Where the part was shipped later the connection wasn’t already done and I need to find out where to cut through the front firewall, left of the gas tank. Any and all help/pictures would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You
Bill

Welcome @bill I am still in the starting stages of my GT-R build in Oregon, where are you located? Do you have the steering rack with your car?

Hi Jim,
I took delivery of the roller car two weeks ago and I’m currently taking it apart(body panels off and hung up, nose off, transaxle out.
The steering column is in the car, but was sent after and not installed at factory(wasn’t available). I’m now having to cut though the front wall for steering column. I now need to put the dashboard in temporarily to locate exact steering location. Currently the seat sits left off center to the steering column.
Thankfully I have a buddy who built an SLC and is teaching me!

I’m located in ME and just finished taking all of the body off, less the doors. I believe I have some what worked out connecting the steering column(haven’t made any cuts yet). Planning to do the steering this week, and the get some heat/sound deadening put on wherever possible.
Also hoping to mount the drivers seat, as I need to squeeze all of the extra room possible. I’m 6’3” and I just clear the door
