New Member in Florida

Hi All,

I am a new member in Florida. My goal is to build a GT40 from the ground up. I plan to build a monocoque chassis. I have started the engineering plans and then will build a scale model. It will take some time but this is really a lifelong goal... Not only to own and drive a GT 40 but to build one as well.

Thanks for putting this forum together and I see lots of great advice out there. I look forward to being able to both receive and contribute to that advice.

Cheers,
Justin

Welcome to GT40S Justin. Those are some pretty lofty goals you have set. As you said, this will take a lot of time, determination, and life will certainly get in the way . And in my case, my health put a kibosh on things. So always have these things in mind going in. This forum has some of the most talented people on earth and are open to questions. Read and then read some more through the build threads. Remember, slow and steady.
Best of luck with your build.

Regards Brian

Welcome Justin, it took me 20yrs of life and lurking here (during which I built 2 replica Cobras and several other cars) to get “started” on my ‘40. As Brian said, keep learning and asking questions along your journey. I find that doing SOMETHING everyday/week/month keeps you motivated and engaged in achieving your goals and end vision.

Cheers,

Devin

Thanks Brian. Agreed. I am not setting any time expectations and I can already see that this is an amazing forum. Thanks for the advice. Yes... Slow and steady.. :)

Thanks Devin. Yes. I am actually finishing a full, ground up, restoration of a 1973 Karmann Ghia right now. I took that one on as my practice to sharpen my fabrication, welding, body work, chassis work, etc skills. I have found as you said that doing something every day is better than trying to do 12 hours on a Saturday and Sunday.
