New In

Hi Guys,

I’m 37 years old guy based in France and car fan, especially old ones.

I add différent cars in the past (importation from All around the World), and the only One I kept until now is a Lotus Elise S1 prepared for track!

I’m here as I need your help to identify a potential GTD that I can buy.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Alex

Welcome to Gt40s Alex. Please enjoy the forum. Post some pictures of your Lotus in our Wheels and Keels sub forum. Post pictures of the GT40 and there is a wealth of information in the UK. And they have club meetings and there is a possibility that someone might be familiar with the car you are looking at.

Regards Brian

Thanks a lot @Brian Kissel !

Here are some inputs I have for the time being:

- I have a Plate « GT40P/ Mark 1-B » with the following Numbers: 5F04F155XXX
- Car is road legal with a VIN number equal to upside Numbers on the registration.

On top of this I have another plate (for Parts from my point of view) on Aluminium Radiator where it’s written GTD40.

Following a careful reading on the forum about GTD châssis number, I cannot find something linked to VIN number I have…

Thanks in advance

Most GTDs where home build and carry an owners added VIN sometimes even caried from the donor car.
Unless GTD build the car themselfes I doubt you find a genuine GTD VIN.

Most importand will be the paperwork showing its a GT40 and not a Ford Capri or Ford Cortina otherwise getting it roadlegal in Europe will be impossible.

@JP Verweij many thanks, it’s clear!

car is already roadlegal with a French registration with Ford as Brand and GTD40 as model!

@Jean-marc: enchanté!

Thanks for your Quick support on this VIN matter, I Will get back to you soon with more questions for sure :)

Alex

Hi Alexandre,
As JP Verweij has stated, due to the age of the GTD the VIN number will have been 'created' when the kit was built. If you are considering buying this car then check, check and check again that all the paperwork regarding its registration in France is correct. As JP stated, if it hasn't been registered correctly then it is now nearly impossible to get it registered in any European Union country.
I hope it all works out good for you.
Steve.

Hello Guys,

I'm back as I bought the car. Here are some pictures of the car (didn't move since long time), and some specs below:

- Ford GTD40 with a Ford Mustang Chassis Number of 1975,
- 351W Stroke in 408CI with 381 HP at the wheels,
- Porsche G50 (964) Gearbox,
- Brakes: Billet 6 in the front and Billet 4 at the rear. Is the brand HI SPEC?

Car didn't move since a long time, it took very good oil pressure (good news), but doesn't start as fuel pump are not running: electrical issue or fuel pumps itself I don't know yet...

Do you know where are generally located fuel pumps please?

I would be happy to collect some nice advise from GTD professional here :)

The car looks OK from the pics. I think you need to get a proper air cleaner asap. I couldn't see the wheels and tyres in the pics. I have a GTD and have some information re. GTDs.
Cheers

Thanks Mike!

I think its the brand, the only strange thing is on the caliper it’s only written « Billet 4 on the rear » and « Billet 6 on the front ».

Thank you,
Alex

Alexandre, nice car ! I just worry on how you will get the french registration with a Mustang name on the actual papers. Keep us informed, Thanks
