I was going through some files and I found some notes that John Horsman had given me some time ago. They may be of some interest to the forum members so I scanned them and I will post them here. Note the tire expansion vs speed curves ! This just adds a bit to the GT40 provenance.

Ah the wonder of non-radial tires of the day.
We ran similar sized Goodyear slicks on our A & B Production Corvettes. They were extremely pressure sensitive - particularly at speeds over 150. I find it interesting that pressures were not mentioned. Our home track was Brainerd International Raceway (AKA - Donnybrook). Turn 1 entry speeds were at terminal velocity which for these cars was just under 200mph.
