ERA kit

How many manufacturers are there that sell their car in true kit form. I am not interested in a roller but a true kit. ERA is the only one I have seen. I do not see many references on this side regarding the ERA kits. Is anybody currently building or recently built one of the ERA kit's. Thank you.

MDA and Tornado sell kits from bare bones to complete.

RCR has a deluxe kit that is almost complete, and I believe that if Fran
doesn't start offering a complete kit soon, he can easily point you to
where you can source the few parts he doesn't supply.

DRB/GT40 Australia has a pretty complete kit as well.

Southern GTs is new to the scene, and they are slowly adding to their
offerings.

I need to contact Roy Sayles at VIP Classics (a US distributor for Autofutura/CAV0,
apparently that is also now offered in kit form.

Gt40

Lloyd. That is a beautiful car. I just finished building a Kirkham 427 and I am looking forward to a GT40 build. I would appreciate any information you could share about options ect. I am in line for an ERA at the end of the year. Thanks Jim

I ended up buying everything from ERA to finish the car. I'm really not a shopper. I want everything to fit correctly and work together as designed. I build a ffr COBRA before this. I purchased things in advance and ended not using them because i didn't understand the spec or a plan change. I felt i over spent because of these kind of mistakes. The GT is very costly to build and i didn't want to waste money on parts that were not correct. When you purchase options from ERA they pretty much put it on the car and test fit it. ERA Has all the parts to built the car to completion. I enjoyed the build tremendously. THe car is much more complicated to build thane the Cobra. Compartments are smaller and more things go in a very small areas. Its not impossible but you won't muscle your way to completion.

The body requires a tremendous amount of work. The kind of work i don't appreciate but greatly respect those who can. I chose to have one of ERA's painters paint mine. I wanted someone who was familiar with car to paint it. There were some oops while building. If i had to to it over i would tape up and cover all painted surfaces while working on the car. Anyway its going back to the painter for touchup. The car is black so i understand touchup is not an issue. IF you go metalic touch up becomes more difficult.

The Support staff at ERA is just unbelievable. Great people to work with. They never grew tired of my anal questions. I live about 20 min from ERA so i was able to stop in as often as i needed. I was able to take pictures of the their cars and use as a reference while building mine.
The build manual is great but a picture of the real thing is the best. Ted who is their main builder of all the turn keys cars know all the tricks. When i got boxed into a corner one of Ted's tricks always bailed me out.
All i can say is great product, Great service and outstanding people. It does get a little expensive but you know the saying you get what you pay for.
Any specific question go for it or if you want to email me

Fearsom I'm in the same place. Finished with the Kirkham and have the itch to build something new. Looking at the GT40 as the next project.

question

This is slightly off-topic, but since you have built a Kirkham car, I can ask you: if you were doing a Kirkham, would you buy it as a roller or put it together yourself? just curious, I am thinking about one for the next project.

If I could get the same deal again I would build 2 or 3 a year. I was one of a few that got a special deal. Recieved the car with the body on frame, interior panels and foot boxes installed. Then there were about 20 big boxes of parts. Quite easy to assemble. All bolt on stuff except the trans mount I needed to add for a TKO600.
