    Steve's RCR GT40 Build

Steve, If I am looking at the pictures correctly, your wings are angled such that the tops will extend past the Spyder. Based on Chucks build log, I was thinking they would angle the other way, but that would not provide near as much room for components. Am I seeing things correctly. Cheers, Randy

    Randy's RCR40 MKI

Now I need to decide if I will treat the aluminum billet suspension components. Choices are (in no particular order) Natural Clear coat Anodized Ceramic coating Powder coated I am leaning towards ceramic because it won’t obscure the logos and it is durable. Hoping others share their...

    Randy's RCR40 MKI

Vinny, Thx much for the info. I am guessing that there is some history with RCR’s pipes and rear clip clearance. I wonder if that applies to both 302 and 351 based builds. I am running a 302/363. I also chose the MK1 rear clip and my understanding is that clip has less head room than the MK2...

    Steve's RCR GT40 Build

Steve, another request. Can you share your plans for the firewall wings? Just yesterday I pulled out some cardboard to make templates. BTW, the anodized suspension parts look great. Cheers, Randy

    Steve's RCR GT40 Build

Steve, thx much for the info. I currently have a Ford Explorer water pump with the impeller removed, but if that doesn’t work, I want a backup plan. I am going to try the Pierburg CWA 400 (BMW) with the TinyCWA Tecomotive controller. https://www.tecomotive.com/en/products/tinycwa.html

    Randy's RCR40 MKI

Another puzzle solved. I bought the RCR bundle of snakes (thank you to whoever it was that cancelled their order). They fit my Prestige 302/363 perfectly. I was able to flush up all the header tube flange bolts with my fingers. No tools needed for the test fit. So far it doesn’t look like I will...

    Randy's RCR40 MKI

Another little project completed. I was not happy with the standoff tubes that hold the rear bottom plate. Their inside diameter was 3/4” and the bolts are 1/2”. Simple solution was to cut some 1/2” ID tubing for sleeves. I also trimmed the length and added a flat washer to protect the bottom...

    Randy's RCR40 MKI

Today’s little project was to replace the thin wall tubing with 1/4” bolt standoffs that hold the radiator sail plates I made billet pieces from some aluminum bar stock and used 7/16” bolts. They are also the correct length. They should provide more robust support to hold a radiator full of...

    RCR40 Transaxle Mounting Bushings

Thx for the referral to Steve's build. Lots of good information. I like his Nylon bushing solution except that now I don't have an excuse to buy a lathe :) I ordered some Nylon rod from Amazon and should be able to turn the bushings without further issues.

    Steve's RCR GT40 Build

Steve, it looks like you are going with an electric water pump. Where did you get the water pump input cover? Cheers, Randy

    RCR40 Transaxle Mounting Bushings

Bill said “Those bushings are items you have to make as the correct length will be determined after you locate your complete drivetrain to know how far back it will go. They should all be pretty close as the stub axle location wont much, but not for us to be able to send a stock item”. I...

    RCR40 Transaxle Mounting Bushings

Thx much. Unfortunately, the largest OD McMaster/Carr have is too big and the next size smaller is too small. I wonder what others have been using. My guess is that RCR turned the ones shown in the online manual. I see a lathe in my future :)

    RCR40 Transaxle Mounting Bushings

Hoping someone has a source for the pictured bushings. I searched McMasters Carr, but not sure what they are called. Thx in advance.

    Streetable Eight Stack

I am just trying to imagine what it’s going to be like to drive a 2,000 pound car with over 700 HP. It’s going to be exciting for sure.

    Streetable Eight Stack

Brian, That is an awesome looking induction system. Is your Lola build inspired by any of the Can Am cars or are you doing a Kissel interpretation? I am still trying to decide. Leaning towards the Borla 8-Stack from Prestige because it looks period correct. Cheers, Randy

    GT40 Build Status

For sure RCR is just as interested in shipping your car as you are, if not more so. The cars take up valuable space and tie up funds that could be used for something else. My understanding is they are incredibly busy with many cars in the almost ready to ship state and are probably prioritizing...

    Engine Mounts

Agree. Since I bought the Prothanes on Amazon I can return them easily. I just wanted make sure there were no horror stories about Energy Suspension.

    Randy's RCR40 MKI

I spent the past few days deburring the tub and the many aluminum pieces. It took a more time than it should have because I pretty much polished the edges. A complete waste of time, but I couldn’t resist using my newly acquired pneumatic die grinder to it’s fullest extent and I just really like...

    Engine Mounts

I have two sets of SBF engine mounts. One set is from Prothan (same as Sean’s above except they are red and silver), the other (black and gold) is from Energy Suspension. Fitment is identical. I can return the Prothans so wondering if I should. Thx in advance. Cheers, Randy
